In light of recent events, I wanted to comment on the passing of Michael Turner. I had only learned about Michael passing Saturday morning from a bulletin on myspace. At first I wasn't sure it was real until I clicked the link to one of the comic book news sites. It was a shock to say the least and I'm sadden much like everyone else. Mr.Turner was one of the few artist that have influenced me. And sadly I'll never have the opportunity to meet him, it would have been an honor to have been able to. I came close once though, at last years Wizard World Chicago. I had intended to buy a print and get it autographed during one of my breaks from the Core Studios booth. At the time I saw him, he was busy with a long line of fans so I figured I'd catch him a little later when things slowed down. Unfortunatley later in the day he had either left for the day or gone out for lunch. I'm not really sure which, but while at the Aspen booth I decided to get a print of Kiani that stood out. It was one of two left but to my surprise the guy working the booth pulled out one autographed print that Michael had left behind. I imagine it was for any fan that might've missed him. At least that's my presumption. I was pretty happy about that since I had missed my chance to meet the man himself. Needless to say, it hangs framed in my studio on the wall. I will miss seeing his work, he will be missed but never forgotten. I and the rest of the Core Studios staff extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends. As mentioned last month we finally have the pics from the Motor City Comic Con posted. You can check them out here viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=156305527&albumId=1622543 In other Core Studios related news, Bushi co-creator Tony Davis is back in the lab working on some new Bushi art. Featuring new design concepts by Bushi artist Darryl Anderson, so you know this combo will be hot! And work has begun on the upcoming Night Predators preview. Details can't be given as yet, but it'll be nice. See ya in 30! Best,Roberto A.
